Frequently asked questions
The camera does not open
Open Android Settings → Apps → Insect Lens → Permissions and allow Camera. Close and reopen the App after changing the permission.
Why could my insect not be identified?
Use bright, even light; keep the whole insect in frame; focus closely; and avoid motion blur. Different angles can help. Results are likely matches, not guaranteed identifications.
Where are my saved discoveries?
Saved species appear under My Collection. Collection information is kept in the App’s local storage on your device. Clearing App data or uninstalling can remove it.
Is the bite guidance medical advice?
No. It is general educational information and may not fit your situation. For severe pain, trouble breathing, swelling of the face or throat, loss of consciousness, or another emergency, contact local emergency services immediately.
How do I manage or cancel premium?
Open Google Play → profile picture → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions, choose Insect Lens and follow the displayed options. Removing the App does not automatically cancel a subscription.
Identification stays on the loading screen
Check your internet connection, then retry with a clear image. If the issue continues, restart the App and include the approximate time of the failed request when emailing support.
How do I delete a saved item?
Open My Collection and use the delete action for the discovery. You can also clear all App storage through Android Settings, but that removes all locally saved App data.
Before emailing
Never email passwords, payment-card information, identity documents or unrelated private photos. A short description and a screenshot with private details hidden are usually enough.
